This weekend sees the 5th annual Drogheda Arts Festival.
The following extract from the Drogheda tourism website gives a flavour of what to expect.
The festival takes place over the May Bank Holiday in the town of Drogheda, Co. Louth which is one of Ireland’s oldest medieval towns. The town is divided in two by the River Boyne and is steeped in history from the Battle of the Boyne site to Millmount and Laurence’s Gate, to mention a few, so there is plenty to see also in the town.
The festival consists of 6 days of theatre, music, spectacle, visual arts, dance, puppetry, comedy, literature and street performances through a multi-disciplinary programme of both national and international acts.
With events for all ages and in various locations throughout the town this festival is one not to be missed with something for everyone to enjoy. The festival will, as always create a real buzz about the town on the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The box office is located in the Highlanes Gallery in Laurence St Drogheda and its opening hours are
Monday to Saturday 10am -6pm and on Sunday 12noon - 4pm . Bookings by phone to 041-9807114
The Drogheda Arts Festival is funded by Drogheda Borough Council, Failte Ireland, Arts Council & Louth County Council.
